Twice a year the c100 invites 20 of Canada’s most promising startups to the Silicon Valley for two days of mentorship, workshops, investor meetings, strategic partner visits and networking. We at Horizn were one of the lucky ones to be invited!

So much content, so little time to digest – so some random memories –

The “Three Asses Rule” from Jeff Clavier at Soft Tech… A smart-ass team with a kick-ass product in a big ass market. We realized we still had more rules to break.

Hours (days) spent on our pitch deck with the help of Salim Teja (MaRS ICE practice). Meeting up with Rosco Hill of Blend Labs (the guy with the investor attraction superpower) who promptly advised us to toss the presentation and go “rogue”. So we tried that too in our next pitch (so many pitches!)

We found inspiration came from many directions. From the fireside chat with Uber CTO, Thuan Pham, CEO best practices with Sukhinder Singh Cassidy of Joyus, Rob Burgess of Adobe on creative disruption and Katherine Barr on art of negotiating.

On Wednesday “The Great Race” around the valley armed with iPad in hand. Thank you Katherine Barr, Lars Leckie and Scott Bonham, we get it and take up the challenge. We are thinking big, running fast and playing to WIN.

Thank you to @atleeclark and her wonderful team @c100Lindsay and @rosedblake. Our objectives we came to the c100 with were exceeded beyond any expectations.
